This travel journal is a shortened version of the Dutch travel journal, maybe someday if
we have more time we will translate the whole journal. Here you can read day by day what we
did during our trip to China Day 1 - Sunday January 2, 2005 Finally, we are leaving for China. At 7 pm our plane left for Beijing. Day 2 - Monday January 3, 2005 At 11.30 am we arrived in Beijing. Now it's waiting for our flight to Hangzhou. We finally arrived at 6 pm in Hangzhou.
GOTCHA day or in our case JINTE day. After a long waiting - the children should come at 2 pm - they finally brought Jinte at 4.30 pm to our hotel room. Day 4 - Wednesday January 5, 2005 Paper day. At 9 am to Civil Affairs to make the adoption official. In the afternoon some formalilties at a local police office to get a passport. Day 5 - Thursday January 6, 2005 Today we visited the orphanage in Longyou, at 9 am we left for about a 3 hour drive and just got back in the hotel at 8 pm.
After visiting the notary it was a touristic day. First a boat trip at the West Lake, after that we went to the Mausoleum of General Yue Fei. Day 7 - Saturday January 8, 2005 Another touristic day. In the morning we visited the Six Harmonies Pagoda with its beautiful view over the Qiantang River and the city, in the afternoon we went to Fei Lai Feng and Ling Yin Temple. All in all a tiring day climbing all that stairs.
A day off, we did some shopping, took a walk and start packing. This is our last day in Hangzhou. Day 9 - Monday January 10, 2005 We left our hotel at 11.30 am. After a 2 hour flight we arrived in Beijing. Day 10 - Tuesday January 11, 2005 Another day off. Our hotel is between Tian'anmen square and the Silk market. We spent most of the day at the Silk Market.
Our first touristic day in Beijing. Today we visited the Great Wall. Very impressive but also very very cold. In the afternoon again to the silk market. Day 12 - Thursday January 13, 2005 Another touristic day. A visit to the Summerpalace. In the afternoon the most of the group took some rest. After one and a half week the most of us get a little tired.
A touristic day again. A visit to the Forbidden City. Also we visited Tian'anmen square and the Mausoleum of Mao. again a lot of walking and climbing. Day 14 - Saturday January 15, 2005 Our last day in China. We did not much this day, some shopping -read silkmarket- and packing for the big trip home Day 15 - Sunday January 16, 2005 Finally..... We left Beijing at 2 pm to arrive in the Netherlands at 5 pm. ......Home |
